Our History

From its inception, the Hamilton County Sports Authority (HCSA) has worked from the core belief that sport has the power to unite, empower, and create lasting positive community impacts. Over the years, our sports event development program has evolved, attracting prestigious tournaments, boosting tourism, and fostering economic growth. Explore the milestones that shaped our path toward excellence in sports management and community engagement.

 

2005 — Hamilton County initiated its sports event development program and hired its first Director of Sports Marketing.

2006 — This year marked the beginning of a multi-year contract to host the Indiana Senior Games, featuring numerous championships throughout the county.

2009 — Hamilton County Sports Authority, formally established as a subsidiary of Hamilton County Tourism, Inc., co-hosted the Continental Amateur Baseball Association World Series.

2010 — Hosted the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf and 2010 MAC Golf Championship

2011 — Hosted the NSA World Series, a partnership that repeated in 2021

2012 — Supported the BMW Golf Championship, a partnership that repeated in 2016

2014 — Worked alongside the City of Westfield to open Grand Park Sports Campus, a 400-acre multi-sport campus

2015 — Co-hosted the NCAA Men’s Golf Regional, a partnership that repeated in 2021. Hosted the Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship and the GLVC Men’s Baseball Championship

2016 — Hosted the U.S. Youth Soccer Regionals and the U.S. Lacrosse National Championships

2017— Hosted the U.S.A. Archery National Championship

2019 — Youth and amateur sports tourism in Hamilton County surged and contributed $158.3 million to the local economy. Sporting events attracted nearly 900,000 attendees.

2020 — Hosted the AAU Diving National Championships

2021 — Hosted U.S.A. Football The One, U.S.A. Diving Open Championship, NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regional and NCAA Division II Women’s Golf

2022 — Hosted the U.S.A. Ultimate Elite Select Challenge Invitational, U.S.A. Basketball Open Championship, NCAA Division II Men’s Golf and the UMOJA Games

2023 — Introduced its e-sports program and hosted the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Regional and the Adidas Crossroads MLK Invitational

2024 — Hamilton County Sports Authority adopted a 3-year strategic plan and hosted the U.S.A. Ultimate Elite-Select Challenge, U.S.A. Wrestling Girls Team Duals, NCAA Women’s Golf Regional, MAC Men’s Golf Championship and the APP U.S. Collegiate Championship and Amateur Open.
